Paintball has finally established itself as a reputable international sport. With this, the game has introduced different levels making it easier for you to start playing with your team. Worldwide the extreme sport has attracted millions of amateurs and casual players that enjoy playing the game. The success of tournament teams and leagues has even inspired more people to gear up and join others on the field.
Its interesting combo of strategy, adrenaline, and physical exertion remains irresistible to many who have joined the game. Here are five basic steps to establishing a strong team.
1. Players
The first item on building a paintball team is finding players. There are different variations to the game including solo and multi-player occasions. The game does not have a limit on the number of players your team should have. Despite this, keep the group small and manageable for more fun. Ideally, this may be a five-member team but you could decide to add more for reserves.
Remember that paintball like other team sports requires collaboration and chemistry between teammates. Note that paintball games require the commitment of your energy and time. These two values should be your first key areas when choosing a team.
2. Team Aspirations
After selecting serious players for your team, decide collectively the group’s objectives. Note the team’s attitude towards the game and one another and ensure you set realistic goals. There might be a novice or beginner player in your squad and this needs you to be realistic about your team’s entry-level. Also, be realistic with first-time goals with the new team.
Ask yourself whether your team is founded on pure fun mixed in with local tournaments or you are interested in going pro. Discuss whether you want to make your team known locally as you proceed onto national and regional leagues. With enough practice and good equipment, the possibilities are boundless but remember to set realistic goals that match your team’s ambitions.
3. Dress and look the part
As you start, begin with uniform brand and model jersey. Having the same color is also a bonus to avoid accidental shooting. You could also opt to custom print a logo on similar long-sleeved shirts. Have your player numbers and names on them for easier identification.
There might be room for personal touches like cleats or headlands but everything else including pants, jersey, and mask have to be uniform. It is easier to stock backup equipment and has spare parts when all teammates have similar units
4. Organize the team
You can begin to assign responsibilities to the team members. For instance, the team captain should be someone that has negotiating and leadership skills. A marketing leader to handle the team’s website and social media. Another person may be selected to receive training on maintenance. He or she becomes responsible for the team’s equipment reducing chances of loss and damage.
5. Schedule regular practice
After selecting and organizing the team, follow through with practice and training. Apart from the field excitement, there is a side to physical fitness in the sport. Remember to record data from each field day, work on your strengths and learn from the mistakes. Remember to have a good time, the main reason you established the team.
