Airsoft grenades enhance realism in the game and enable you to rack up your stakes on the battlefield. These additional features cast smoke when facing the enemy, thus giving you time to attack or retreat.
Using these grenades allows you to move in an open area without exposing yourself to your opponents. Below are the different kinds of airsoft grenades with a detailed explanation of how they work.
Pyrotechnic Airsoft Grenades
Also referred to as pyro grenades, this type of airsoft grenade can only be used once. They have an internal explosive, and once they are lit, they release a pyrotechnic effect. You can activate the pyro grenade by striking the ring or fuse-like feature.
To ignite the fuse on the grenade, you would have to pull on either of the two elements. Like the traditional grenade, the fuse begins to burn, followed by the inside structure of the grenade. The time it takes for the grenade to burn allows you to target your opponent.
Pyro grenades are available in various forms, including smoke and frag grenades. With frag grenades, you will notice a tint explosion. Though small, the blast can disorient your opponents and give you time to make your next move. On the other hand, smoke grenades continuously release thick smoke. Depending on the form of the pyro grenade, the smoke can hang in the air for at most two minutes.
Blank Airsoft Grenades
Otherwise referred to as sound grenades, blank airsoft grenades do not project anything. Upon explosion, these grenades only make a loud sound. In airsoft, blank grenades are lethal. Any enemy within five meters of the exploded grenade is either hit or dead. However, it is good to note that the rules could change depending on the field.
Since blank grenades are loaded with blank rounds, they can be reused in the field. Typically, the blank rounds contain real gunpowder and sound similar to an actual blank round. Some blank grenades use propane instead of blank rounds. Though they are differently powered, these grenades are still reusable. Using propane-powered grenades means that you do not require gun powder or blanks. These propane-powered grenades use green gas and burst when gas pressure detonates across the thin films.
Some airsoft fields do not allow blank grenades for legal and safety reasons. Particularly fields in urban areas do not allow these grenades since they release a loud bang that sounds similar to a shot from a real gun. Also, if a blank grenade explodes too close to a person in an enclosed space, they could experience hearing difficulty. Find out whether your airsoft field allows this type of grenade before buying them.
Gas Airsoft Grenades
Gas airsoft grenades are available in two forms, including audible and projective. Audible grenades use compressed gas to produce pressure and a loud bang to confuse your opponents.
They use carbon dioxide, which contributes to the bang once the audible grenade hits a hard surface. Though different, audible and projective gas grenades function similarly. However, the projective grenade produces balls upon detonation.
